Where does it come from?
The clove tree is originally native to Indonesia and the Moluccas, but today it is also grown in Madagascar, Zanzibar, Comoros and Tanzania. Before harvesting, cloves are dried from hand-harvested, unopened buds. During drying, the buds turn brownish-red and retain their characteristic shape.
