Star anise
Star anise (Illicium verum) is an aromatic spice obtained from the seeds of the star anise tree (Illicium verum). The star anise tree is native to Southeast Asia, but is now also cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions of the world.
Taste and smell:
The taste of star anise is spicy, sweetly aniseed, and its smell is strong and characteristic. The taste of star anise is similar to anise, but it is more delicate and deeper.
